In 2024, Eaquals Accredited Member, The Bridge, hosted three engaging online webinars with the support of the Eaquals Member Event Fund. These events continued the webinar series, building on last year’s success by focusing on topics that align with the principles of humanistic language teaching (HLT). The sessions were designed to further explore methods that view both teachers and learners as individuals, fostering an inclusive and reflective learning environment.
Expert Speakers and Valuable InsightsThe Bridge invited esteemed speakers such as Rose Aylett, Sandy Millin, Mike Shreeve, and Andrea Záhumenská. These experts shared their knowledge and provided valuable insights into modern teaching practices. The webinars were well-received, with each session attracting over 30 participants, ranging from novice teachers to seasoned professionals.
Key Topics Explored in the SessionsThe sessions covered a variety of topics relevant to contemporary language teaching, including coaching strategies for teachers, fostering critical dialogue in the classroom, and adapting materials to better engage students. One key session focused on coaching, offering practical advice on how teachers could renew their enthusiasm and passion for the profession. Another session explored critical dialogue, giving teachers tools to encourage students to engage with important issues thoughtfully. The final session on adapting materials provided strategies for personalizing content to better connect with students’ diverse backgrounds and experiences.
