The rise of the undetectable use of generative AI for coursework and written assessments in higher education poses a threat to academic integrity. This webinar explores the challenges generative AI poses to academic integrity and possible solutions such as the increased use of spoken assessments to complement existing assessment practice. I will discuss the role language assessment can play in supporting academic integrity by producing tests that encourage and develop students’ linguistic skills, interactional competency, verbal reasoning abilities and confidence.
