Giorgio Iemmolo

Giorgio Iemmolo is the Director of the Language Center of the University of Zurich (UZH) and ETH Zurich, where he leads the development and delivery of language education programs that equip students and staff with essential linguistic and intercultural competencies. With a Ph.D. in Linguistics and a strong academic and managerial background, he brings a research-informed, pedagogically sound approach to modern language education.

Prior to his current role, Giorgio spent nine years as Director of Academic Management at EF Education First, where he oversaw the academic operations of 13 language campuses across Europe, Central America, and South Africa. His leadership encompassed academic strategy, product development, staff recruitment and training, quality assurance, and media representation, contributing to EF’s global standing in international education.

With extensive expertise in strategic planning, project management, and academic innovation, Dr Iemmolo is committed to creating inclusive, high-impact learning environments. His work bridges research and practice, empowering learners to succeed in academic, professional, and global contexts. At UZH and ETH Zurich, he continues to shape a forward-looking vision for language education grounded in excellence, collaboration, and learner development.
